Denis Suarez says that if his playing time with FC Barcelona doesn’t improve, he’ll have to consider his options, with Arsenal linked with a January move.

Four months into the season, Suarez has only spent 212 minutes on the pitch, in a total of five appearances. 180 of those minutes were in the Spanish domestic cup, the Copa del Rey.

Speaking after the second of those Copa appearances, in which the midfielder scored two goals, Suarez admitted that if he doesn’t start playing matches he might consider moving on.

“I work to play and I’m not having minutes. If I do not play … we’ll see,” Suarez told the Spanish media. “Valverde said that today was a test for the non-regulars, we will see on Saturday if I have proved myself.

“I want to play, today I was able to enjoy it and I felt good, comfortable. I want to play as much as possible.”

Catalan outlet RAC1 claim that Barcelona have informed Suarez that he can leave for the right price, with Arsenal and AC Milan interested. Last month, Spanish outlet AS reported that Suarez had realised how far he was from the Barcelona first-choice starting eleven, and he wanted to secure a move away as a result.

AS went on to claim that Suarez has made a Premier League move his priority, with Arsenal as a ‘favourite option’. The Spaniard believes Unai Emery’s style of football would suit him perfectly.

Emery will already know the strengths and weaknesses of Suarez very well, having spent a year with the midfielder on loan at Sevilla when he was in charge there.

The pair won the Europa League together, but Suarez ended up completing a transfer to Villarreal at the end of the season. After a year, Barcelona exercised their buy-back clause, but it’s not exactly clear why, because they’ve never given him consistent starts since then.

We’ll see if Emery decides to reunite with his former player in the winter window.
