Barcelona’s Denis Suarez has accepted it’s time to move on from the Catalan club, giving the green light to a transfer in January, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish outlet AS (via Sport Witness) report that Suarez has realised how far he is from the Barcelona starting eleven, and he wants to secure a move away as a result. The 24-year-old midfielder has only made one appearance this season, and he’s reportedly ‘given the green light’ for his club to move him on.

AS go on to claim that Suarez has made a Premier League move his priority, with Arsenal as a ‘favourite option’. The Spaniard believes Unai Emery’s style of football would suit him perfectly.

Of course, it’s possible that a gap is opening up in the Arsenal midfield, thanks to the seemingly imminent departure of Aaron Ramsey. Plus, Emery will know the strengths and weaknesses of Suarez very well, having spent a year with the midfielder on loan at Sevilla when he was in charge there.

The pair won the Europa League together, but Suarez ended up completing a transfer to Villarreal instead at the end of the season. After a year, Barcelona exercised their buy-back clause, but it’s not exactly clear why, because they’ve never given him consistent starts since then.

We’ll see if Emery decides to reunite with his former player in the winter window or next summer.
