An Arsenal scout was spotted watching AS Roma’s midweek Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen keeping an eye on 21-year-old Cengiz Under, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sky Sports) report that a scout from the club was in attendance for the match earlier this week. Although Roma ended up losing 2-1, Under scored their goal with a composed left-footed finish that went in off the post:

This isn’t the first time the Italian outlet have reported on Arsenal watching Under. Nicolo Schira, a reporter for Gazzetta dello Sport, claimed earlier this month that Arsenal were ‘really interested’ in Under. The Gunners reportedly sent a scout to watch him in Roma’s match against Inter Milan.

Just as on this occasion, Under scored in that Serie A clash, so he’s certainly making a good impression. Those two goals bring the winger to five goals and five assists in 19 appearances this season.

Roma are reportedly trying to get Under to sign a new deal with increased wages and a release clause of €45m (£40m). Dean Jones of Bleacher Report claims Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs following the Turkish international, along with Manchester City and Spurs. He writes that Roma are ‘likely to sell’ Under at the end of the season.

Another recent report from ESPN suggested that Under would be keen on a Premier League transfer when he leaves Roma. However, they think the 21-year-old would be against a January move as it stands. We’ll see if Arsenal can convince him to change his mind next month.
