In September, Arsenal updated their Academy staff page on Arsenal.com detailing a ton of new changes at the club.
A number of new faces have been added while others have changed roles or gone completely.

This a continental style appointment & hopefully marks the start of including intelligent ex-players in the decision-making process.
Mertesacker must have the potential to make a very capable exec.
He also recently became a member of the DFB advisory team.
