Arsenal will pay whatever it takes to land the signing of Mexico star Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano, according to reporter Rene Tovar.

Speaking on Twitter, the ESPN Mexico reporter insisted that Lozano’s game-winning performance wouldn’t have gone unnoticed, and would dash Everton’s hopes of a deal. He added that “Arsenal are after him and will pay anything to get ‘Chucky'”.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Arsenal interest in Lozano. Late last year he was widely touted as an Alexis Sanchez replacement, given the Chilean’s impending departure. Spanish outlets reported a £42m bid from Arsenal for the player at the time.

When the January transfer window actually opened, suddenly all the rumours disappeared. Everyone was more interested in Manchester United’s Mkhitaryan and Dortmund’s Aubameyang.

Still, it doesn’t surprise me to see the rumours return now, with the way Lozano is playing. He scored 19 goals and assisted 11 from the wing in 2017/18 in the Netherlands, and now he has his first goal in a World Cup, scoring the winner against Germany.

That goal was his sixth goal contribution for Mexico since September 2017, one every 101 minutes on average. Not bad at all for a 22-year-old wide player.

If Lozano keeps playing like that for the rest of the tournament, I’m sure he’ll draw interest from all over the world before July ends.
