Emil Forsberg’s agent has dropped some pretty clear hints that a transfer could be possible this summer, after the player picked up a ban with a red card against Hoffenheim.

Forsberg picked up a three-game ban for his sending off, bringing his season to an end. His agent Hasan Cetinkaya wasn’t happy.

“The ban is a scandal,” he told Bild. “Emil was fouled and provoked, didn’t even hit his opponent properly. The verdict is an attack on RB and Emil. They would not have done such a thing to a Bayern Munich player!”

Forsberg himself then posted an ominous tweet, apparently sarcastically thanking either the league or his club for something:

In response to the post, his agent told Aftonbladet (via Sport Witness): “When the last game has been played, everyone will see what Emil means.”

When pushed to clarify if he meant a transfer, Cetinkaya replied: “As I say, everyone will see what happens to Emil’s future.”

Bild think Arsenal could launch a summer bid for the player, costing them around £35m. It’s not the first time the media have linked the club for Forsberg, and in January of this year they touted the 26-year-old as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Mostly thanks to a mid-season injury, Forsberg didn’t quite reach the same levels this season as he did in 2016/17. He only scored five and assisted four this campaign, a relatively meagre total. He managed eight goals and 22 assists last year.

Despite that, his chance creation was still very good. He made 2.56 chances per 90 minutes, roughly the same as the likes of Christian Eriksen in the Premier League.

If Arsenal want to boost the number of creative players in their team this summer, Forsberg might be a good player to go for.
