Emil Forsberg is reportedly on Arsenal’s list of ‘top targets’ as they look for an Alexis Sanchez replacement.

With Alexis close to leaving the club this month, who his replacement will be is a hot topic. Almost every half-decent winger has been linked with the club. Outlets clearly view this as the ideal time to bring up some old rumours

Calciomercato are the latest to do so by claiming that RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg is now a top target for the club. The Swedish international was linked with Arsenal in the summer, but nothing ever came of the reports.

That may be because, as Calciomercato mentions in their piece, Leipzig do not want to lose one of their best players. That’s a big obstacle to any deal happening. He’s a regular in the first-team, making 12 Bundesliga appearances this season.

It’s good if Arsenal are looking at players of Forsberg’s quality to bring into the club, but they also have to be realistic about their chances of landing a coveted and talented target.

Players are hard to sign in January, as selling clubs aren’t happy to lose somebody valuable in the middle of the season. Forsberg has been linked with Manchester United, but them signing Alexis Sanchez is likely to end suggestions that he could be moving to Old Trafford.
