Arsenal put in a slightly improved performance against Manchester City on Thursday night, but ended with exactly the same result as at the weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s side lost 3-0 again, and City cut open their defence with ease. Arsenal did create a few good chances, including winning a penalty, but overall they were a class below their opponents.

Danny Welbeck 2.5

Welbeck put in a typical performance on Thursday night.

He helped out a lot defensively, but his passes were loose and his touch summed up when he spun around and fell over whilst struggling to run with the ball.

Just the one blocked shot and no chances created isn’t good enough for a wide-forward.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 4

In the first half Mkhitaryan was involved in a number of good moves.

He set Ramsey free, in behind for a cutback that Ederson almost spilled, had a shot of his own, and set Welbeck up with a low cross just before half-time.

At the start of the second half he won a penalty, but faded as the match went on.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 2.5

Aubameyang struggled to get involved again, and missed his big chance when Ederson saved his penalty.

He did turn and shoot nicely on the volley a few minutes later, but just missed the target.

No one except City substitutes, Yaya Toure and Gabriel Jesus, spent less time on the ball than the Arsenal striker.
