Real Madrid want Hector Bellerin to provide competition for first choice right back Dani Carvajal, according to reports.

Madrid are having a difficult season that has seen results and performances fall well short of expectation.

Among their many under-performing talents is right-back Dani Carvajal.

Apparently, he’s been so poor this season that Madrid are considering providing him with some real competition by signing Hector Bellerin.

That’s according to Don Balon, anyway.

The Spanish outlet has taken a break from their Karim Benzema obsession to write about Bellerin instead.

Bellerin was heavily linked with a return to Barcelona during the summer, but Arsenal refused to sell him.

Don Balon write that the 22-year-old is still keen to leave the “collapse” that’s going on at the club.

They then go into a really bizarre paragraph about Lionel Messi.

According to their report, Bellerin was the “chosen one” of Messi during the summer, who is now upset because he knows about Madrid’s plans. Somehow.

A story that started off okay has evidently descended into nonsense.

It’s possible that Madrid want Bellerin to strengthen their squad, but given the source here, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
