Arsenal have been drawn against AC Milan in the final 16 of the Europa League and fans are strangely optimistic about the clash.
Last time Arsenal traveled to the San Siro to face Milan in a European tournament, Arsene Wenger’s men lost 4-0 so, while both teams are very different to the sides they were in February 2012, some Gooners aren’t exactly over the moon with the draw.
Others seem to believe that the Italian side are doing even worse than Arsenal right now. Surely that can’t be possible?
Milan are currently seventh in Serie A so I feel like some Arsenal fans are being lulled into a false sense of security.
Even though they ‘only’ had to face Ludogorets in the last round, they won 4-0 on aggregate, keeping a clean sheet over both legs, which is better than Arsenal managed against their Swedish opposition.
Others have learned from their side’s shambolic 2-1 defeat to Östersunds FK at the Emirates on Thursday night that we can’t trust this team to do anything. We can’t have nice things.
Arsenal don’t face Milan until 8 and 15 March, which gives Arsene Wenger a few weeks to beat some sense into his players and, hopefully, win the Carabao Cup.
Although I’m not holding out much hope for either of these things to happen.
And I’m not the only one.
Some Arsenal fans agree with me
Last time we played Milan they ran a tractor over their pitch to stop our wingers pic.twitter.com/eYEp5XbPPj

Right, so will Lacazette be back? Because Welbeck was no threat to even a Swedish team over 2 legs. We have no striker.

We are gonna crash out in the round of 16 again…… This never ends @Arsenal

I heard we're playing AC Milan in the Europa league round of 16. Going by our record I'm 100% sure Arsenal will make the current Milan side look like prime AC Milan at San Siro

It’s been a tough call all season – who’s worse, Milan or Arsenal? Finally, the truth will out!
