After signing former Gunner Bacary Sagna, Benevento are now in talks with Samir Nasri and Alex Song over the pair joining their old teammate, according to reports.

L’Equipe write that the Italian club have started negotiations with both players, although they haven’t found any agreement just yet.

Antalyaspor recently released Nasri, making him a free agent. Meanwhile, Song is currently back training with Arsenal. Former club Rubin Kazan told him he could leave for free as well.

Since both players are free agents, it doesn’t matter that the January transfer window is no longer open. Of course, the pair probably want to get playing, but that’s the only time constraint on negotiations.

It would be a strange coincidence if all three Arsenal players joined the Italians for free. Then again, considering Benevento are rock bottom of Serie A, with nine points to the nearest team, they need all the help they can get.

If anything, maybe the Stregoni aren’t thinking big enough. Emmanuel Eboue recently said he would play anywhere if given the opportunity. Perhaps they could go for all four and really get the Arsenal 2008-2011 team back together…

I doubt either party will want negotiations to drag on with the season back in full flow, so we should find out more soon.
