Mauricio Pochettino reportedly made Bordeaux winger Malcom an offer he couldn’t refuse in order to convince the 20-year-old to come to Tottenham over Arsenal.
Even though Bordeaux have stood firm on the fact they won’t sell Malcom this month, Spurs are still being heavily linked with a move for the 20-year-old.
According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Poch promised the winger he could turn him into a ‘protagonist’ in Europe within a maximum of three years. This is why the youngster was supposedly keen for the move – he saw a real future with Spurs.
Malcom was even reportedly shown around Spurs’ training ground this week ahead of a move.
Bordeaux are allegedly demanding between £22m-£26m, although some outlets claim Malcom’s move to the Premier League will only be a loan.
The Ligue 1 club still insist they’re not allowing the Brazilian international to go anywhere this month.
Arsenal were previously linked with Malcom but were said to have decided not to sign him in the end.
Apparently, he was too inexperienced for us.
No developments expected today on Sanchez/Mkhitaryan. Still work to do as currently Mkhitaryan deal hasn't moved on & could yet go either way. Arsenal hopeful on that + Aubameyang. Talks continue. Malcom off – meetings held but eventually deemed too inexperienced #AFC #MUFC #BVB

Instead, we turned our attention to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who moved to north London from Manchester United as part of a swap deal for Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal are now focused on signing Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a major update coming out of Dortmund on Saturday.
