Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger, Leon Bailey.

The Gunners have been linked with Bailey a couple of times before, including earlier this month, and now we’re said to have increased our interest in the 20-year-old.

The lightning-quick winger put in a Man of the Match-winning performance against Hoffenheim on Saturday. The Jamaican managed to score a goal and provide an assist during Bayer’s 4-1 victory.

The display means that, according to Kicker, Arsenal are keener than ever to sign him.

Although Manchester United and Chelsea were also linked in the past, the German outlet only names the Gunners this time.

Kicker also point out that Bailey doesn’t have a release clause and no verbal agreement for a release amount, which means that Bayer can theoretically ask for whatever they want.

The Bundesliga side are eager to keep the youngster considering his fantastic form. This season, Bailey’s scored nine goals and provided five assists.

“He’s only been here for a year and he’s supposed to play for Bayer Leverkusen,” said manager Jonas Boldt.

“For him, it’s about going on and confirming this at another level in the Champions League – an environment in which he has established itself.”

The 20-year-old only signed for Bayer from Genk for £12.4m in January 2017 and although he took a while to really bed in as doubts hung over his ability and attitude, he’s now flying.

Bailey’s contract with the German club doesn’t expire until June 2022.
