Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly keen on a move to Arsenal because his father, Pierre François, has huge admiration for Arsene Wenger, someone who continues to be a draw for top players.

Aubameyang’s dad, Pierre François, who’s also known as “Yaya”, used played for Laval, Le Havre and Toulouse during his football career in the 1980s and ’90s. Therefore, not only is the 52-year-old aware of who Arsene Wenger is, according to the Times (£), he’s a huge admirer.

This is why the Aubameyangs reportedly want the striker to move to Arsenal, despite the Gunners only being sixth in the Premier League and missing out on Champions League football.

Considering Yaya, who’s also Aubameyang’s agent, is the 28-year-old’s ‘puppet-master’, according to the German media, it’s good to read he’s on board with the move.

Although of course the transfer isn’t without it’s advantages for the retired Gabon international. Apparently, he’ll get a decent agent’s fee.

Aubameyang’s dream of playing for Real Madrid, who he tried to sign for in the summer, isn’t exactly a secret. No one’s kidding themselves into thinking the striker has always wanted to move to north London, nor that money isn’t one of the motives behind the deal.

However, it would be nice to know his father, who’s currently a scout for AC Milan, as least understands what the club is about.

The ex-Saint Etienne star will supposedly pocket around €20m-a-year in wages.

Dortmund are reportedly holding out for £60m while Arsenal are said to have offered just over £50m. Regardless of how it is being played out in the media, what’s going on is most likely nothing more than both sides using varying negotiation tactics to get what they want.

This one will go right down to the wire on deadline day most likely.
