Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Mesut Ozil, with the German international expected to put pen to paper in the coming weeks.

According to the Express, Ozil isn’t interested in a move to another European side, and will commit his future to Arsenal next month. The 29-year-old impressed against Chelsea as the Gunners booked their place in the Carabao Cup final, and February should see progress made in talks.

Ozil has been an ever-present this season, making 19 Premier League appearances, scoring and creating 10 goals. The midfielder is out of contract in the summer, but so far hasn’t agreed a pre-contract deal with any other side, suggesting he only has eyes for Arsenal.

Fans delighted in a tweet he posted after Alexis Sanchez left for Manchester United, calling London his home and decorating his house with his own logo brand, which hints that he’s not considering an exit just yet.

Performances have been of a high level this season too, and the more Ozil talks about Arsenal on social media, the more people expect him to commit his future.

If the Gunners can meet his wage demands and prove they’re a club worth sticking with, Ozil could finally extend his stay. He signed from Real Madrid in 2013, and has gone on to make 181 appearances.
