The u18s will resume their league campaign when they take on Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

The Arsenal u18 age group will be looking to close the gap on Chelsea when they play Aston Villa on Saturday.

A three-game winning run has seen them rise to second in the table, but they’re still a good six points off Chelsea.

Arsenal were in very good shape before the break in fixtures.

In those three games against Norwich, Tottenham and Swansea, they scored 12 goals and conceded none.

Much of that has been down the impressive form of winger Xavier Amaechi, who just signed his first professional contract with the club.

He has three goals in his last two outings, and will be looking to contribute against Villa as well.

Alongside Amaechi we could see Trae Coyle, Bukayo Saka and Tyreece John-Jules, who have all scored recently.

Folarin Balogun, the top scorer this season, and Emile Smith-Rowe give Arsenal impressive depth in attack.

Villa, meanwhile, are down in 9th and haven’t won in three games.

The two sides met back in August, when Arsenal secured their first win of the season thanks to a goal from James Olayinka.

Arsenal are the favourites to win, but could be effected by players being called-up to the u23 squad for their game against Liverpool on Sunday as u23s are called into the first team for the FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest.
