Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to make an offer for Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici, who has also been linked with Arsenal.

Turkish publication Sporx claims that Tottenham scouts have been following Yazici, and that they’re planning to make a ‘very serious’ offer for the player.

We previously reported the quotes from Yazici’s agent that Arsenal scouts watched Yusuf playing for Trabzonspor, and reported their notes back to Arsène Wenger. So there could be some competition between the two North London clubs for his signature.

Yazici is just 20 years old, but he’s already made four appearances for the Turkish national side at senior level. He also has two goals and two assists in his 13 league appearances for his club this season.

This doesn’t quite match up to 2016/17, when he managed four goals and six assists in 18 league games, but it’s fairly common for players to drop off a bit in their second season after breaking into the senior team. As long as the Arsenal scouts see something in him, that’s the important thing.

As SportWitness point out, the news comes amid a flurry of rumours surrounding Turkish clubs. Turkish fans are notorious for flocking to the social media accounts of every footballer linked with them, and perhaps media outlets are just trying to cash in on that fact by linking Turkish players and teams with big names in England.

We’ll know soon enough if the rumours have any truth to them, with the winter transfer window opening in under a month now.
