Arsenal are monitoring Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yacizi, according to the player’s agent.

The 20-year-old has become a first team regular for his home-town club Trabzonspor, and is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

According to his agent, Adem Cebeci, Arsenal are amongst the leading English clubs watching the playmaker.

“There is no official offer for the player, there are clubs that [Trabzonspor president] Erkut Sogut has seen. England’s leading clubs are watching, and Arsenal coach Wenger watched and got notes about Yusuf,” he told Ajansspor.

Arsenal have been linked with Yacizi before, with reports suggesting he could be the successor to Mesut Ozil.

He’s one of the brightest talents in Turkey and already has four caps for the national team.

This season, he’s made 13 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, and has two goals and two assists.

He’s set to surpass the number of appearance he made during his breakthrough season last year.

He predominantly plays as an attacking midfielder, but has also operated from a deeper position or from the flanks.

As far as Ozil replacements go, Yacizi would be one for the future.

He doesn’t have much in the way of top level experience, and would have to compete for game time with other young players, such as Alex Iwobi.

It’ll be interesting to see if Arsenal’s interest is genuine, or if their name is just being used for other purposes.
