Robert Pires doesn’t know what Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil wants to do at the end of the season.

Pires was asked about the current situation involving Alexis and Ozil, and admitted that he had no idea what the two have in mind for the future.

“These are my friends. I love Alexis and Mesut,” Pires told Goal.com. “It’s very difficult to answer [whether they will stay or not] because I’m not Mesut or Alexis Sanchez and I don’t know what they want at the end of the season.

“If I’m the owner of Arsenal then of course I want to extend both of their contracts because they’re important on and off the pitch. The situation is not easy for Arsenal.”

Arsenal kept hold of Alexis and Ozil in the hope that they could be convinced to sign new contracts during the season. However, despite there being a will to keep them, not much progress has been made.

Both players continue to be linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window. Alexis seems certain to leave next month or in the summer after his failed move to Manchester City in the summer.

There is, though, hope that Ozil could extend his contract amid reports that Arsenal had made him a new offer. The German international has been in very good form recently too.

Alexis, on the other hand, is currently frustrating fans with his tendency to give the ball away despite his production. Whatever the plan is for them, they’re going to be featuring a lot in December as Arsenal have six more games to play.
