Steven N’Zonzi admits his future is somewhere other than Seville, amid rumours he’s come to London to sign for Arsenal.

As we covered previously, N’Zonzi travelled to London this week, amid speculation that he could be set to leave Sevilla for Everton or Arsenal.

We also reported that the player has been training away from the main group with his current club, and he hasn’t featured in any of their last four match-day squads.

N’Zonzi spoke to France Football about his situation, and confirmed the rumours that he intends to leave Sevilla, but said that wasn’t the purpose of his visit to London.

My future is clearly elsewhere than in Seville. The only thing that disappoints me is the manner in which this is ending,” N’Zonzi admitted.

“I’m indeed in London, but it’s got nothing to do with a transfer or football. I’ve come to see my son who lives here and to spend some time with him. As you can see, it’s not a question of signing for Arsenal or anywhere else.

For now, then, it appears the Frenchman, who has a £36m release clause, hasn’t made his mind up over where he plans to go next. With the transfer window not opening until January, N’Zonzi shouldn’t be in discussions with other clubs regardless, at least not without Sevilla’s permission.

Presumably the midfielder’s son living in London could have an impact on his eventual decision, but it didn’t stop him moving from England to Spain in the first place, so it’s not too much of a giveaway.

But with Santi Cazorla set for yet another surgery, Arsenal could start looking elsewhere for options in the middle of the park, and you’d think that N’Zonzi would be one of them.
