Arsenal are being intensely linked with Steven N’Zonzi, with the midfielder nearing a Sevilla exit, while reportedly also travelling to London this week.

Ever since N’Zonzi’s early substitution against Liverpool, and subsequent missed training session the following day, he’s been excluded from first-team action.

There were reports the French international has been training away from the main group, and he hasn’t featured in any of their last four match-day squads.

The Daily Mail say that N’Zonzi has now travelled to London, and will play no part in Sevilla’s Champions League clash with Maribor this week.

Sevilla Info claim the former Stoke City midfielder was given permission to make the trip to visit his son, although they also mention the reports that he could also be making contact with Arsenal or Everton.

If anything, the fact Steven has a son in London only plays into the hands of the Gunners. After all, Petr Čech reportedly joined Arsenal partly so his children wouldn’t have to change schools, so it’s not unheard of for players to move with their families in mind.

N’Zonzi would add the physicality pundits always go on about Arsenal needing, whilst also being as comfortable in possession as anyone.

In fact, the midfielder completed more passes in La Liga last season than anyone else. He could be a useful addition to the Gunners’ squad as a result.
