Eddie Nketiah, Ben Sheaf and Matt Macey have all been handed new long-term contracts by Arsenal.

All three players made their first-team debuts this season, and after some encouraging performances, they’ve been rewarded with these improved deals to remain at the club, with the Gunners’ official website revealing the news.

Eddie Nketiah, 18, has been scoring freely for the youth teams for a couple of years now, but this season he’s started to make the step up to the first-team.

Scoring with his first touch at the Emirates Stadium, against Norwich City, then adding the winner in extra-time, is undoubtedly the highlight so far.

Matt Macey, 23, also impressed in goal for the Gunners, only conceding once in 210 minutes with the team. He made his debut in the same match against Norwich City, and he’s stepped up well to the challenge of senior football.

Matt’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, so it was important to get him tied down before January.

Meanwhile, Ben Sheaf, 19, hasn’t played such a major part for the first-team, only making a late substitute appearance against Red Star Belgrade, but he’s clearly someone Wenger believes in.

Just 70 minutes with the u23s after returning from injury, Sheaf was called up to the Europa League squad for that match in Belgrade, and he’s been on the bench for both of the other Europa League games since.

We wrote an article about his progress not long ago, which you can read here. Congratulations to the trio, and hopefully we’ll be seeing them in the first-team a lot more in the future.
