Chelsea have reportedly joined Arsenal in their alleged pursuit of CSKA Moscow midfielder, Aleksandr Golovin.

Despite already boasting some of the Premier League’s best midfielders, Chelsea are allegedly looking to sign Golovin for £15m in January.

The 21-year-old, who has until June 2021 on his contract in Russia, was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer. The rumours then picked up after CSKA Moscow’s general director, Roman Babaev, revealed that the Gunners were keeping tabs on the midfielder.

However, Babaev also insisted that Arsenal hadn’t made an approach yet.

Now, it appears that Chelsea are in the driver’s seat when it comes to signing Golovin. Apparently, the Blues want to secure his signature before the World Cup in Russia next year because his transfer fee is likely to rise if he puts in an impressive performance. Therefore, while Antonio Conte is unlikely to find space for the Russian in the first team right away, they’re reportedly willing to pay £15m to bring him to Stamford Bridge in January.

Golovin has been at CSKA since 2012 and has now made 98 senior appearances for the club. This season alone, he’s featured in 28, scored three goals and provided four assists.
