Arsenal’s away form has been extremely disappointing this season, but there are some signs the Gunners are turning things round.

In all competitions, Arsenal have won four games away from home, losing five and drawing three. That’s nowhere near good enough, but the record is even worse domestically.

Only two of those wins were in the Premier League, one against Everton and the other against Burnley. However, in the last three matches, the Gunners have put together a mini-unbeaten run.

They’ve won one and drawn two of those last three games, only conceding once. Granted, they were playing Burnley, Southampton and West Ham, but it’s still a step in the right direction.

Plus, Arsenal’s record away to Crystal Palace is very good. Wenger’s side lost 3-0 earlier this year, but before that they hadn’t lost since 1979 at Selhurst Park. The Gunners also had an unbeaten run home and away lasting 23 years before that defeat.

But hopefully the most recent match will still be there as a warning in the players’ minds. I’m not sure the fans will stand for another loss like that one in April, and it could be even more damaging to the team’s top-four aspirations than it was last year.

Only a win is going to be acceptable on Thursday night.
