Almost three weeks after Arda Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut, claimed that the midfielder’s future would be sorted in 15 days, the Barcelona man seems no closer to a move.

On December 3, Turan’s agent was adamant that the 30-year-old was leaving Barcelona. The former Atletico Madrid midfielder is yet to play for the Catalan giants this season and has been unhappy with his lack of playing time overall since his move in 2015.

“It’s not clear right now where he is going but he will leave from Barcelona in January,” Bulut said.

“We’re talking with three or four teams from Spain, Italy and England. There is no contact with Galatasaray.

“After 15 days we’ll make a final decision. There are two options: he will be sold or loaned.”

Bulut even fueled speculation by posting a picture of him and Turan in London on social media.

However, it’s now been well over 15 days and Turan appears no closer to a move.

The Turkey international was said to be replacing Mesut Ozil seeing as the German only has six months left on his current contract. However, given Turan’s age, there aren’t many people who think that would be good business.

Last season, he scored 13 goals in 30 appearances and provided seven assists. However, only half of these appearances were starts, so 13 goals in 15 starts isn’t bad at all. Turan’s just not Mesut Ozil.

What’s going on?

Turan still hasn’t made an appearance this season.

The official line was that he would be out injured until early December but he’s still been missing from training as we close in on the end of the month.

Speculation regarding where he will end up has cooled right down in the meantime.
