Ray Parlour reckons that Wilfried Zaha could be a decent replacement for Alexis Sanchez if he moved to Arsenal.
Over the weekend, new reports emerged linking Crystal Palace winger, Zaha, to Arsenal.
The Gunners allegedly reckon he could be a decent replacement for Alexis and it seems that Parlour agrees.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the Arsenal legend said, “(Zaha)’s a player who can run at you, he’s got great pace. (He’s) probably lacking a little bit in goals. He gets in some great positions and maybe his end product is not as good as it should be but I think this will improve and in a better team you might get more out of him.
“With Sanchez, you’re going to be losing 25 goals a season. That’s the big problem have – how do you replace that?”
He added, “If you can get the best out of Zaha, he’s very dangerous on his day. He can change a game for you.”
Arsenal were previously linked with the 25-year-old before he signed for Manchester United in 2013, so it makes sense that we’re allegedly the main club interested again. However, while he was a very promising youngster, he’s not exactly been a world beater since his return to Selhurst Park two years ago.
As Parlour points out, the Ivory Coast international doesn’t have many goals to his name. Last season, he netted seven in 35 Premier League appearances and provided 11 assists. Although, this term he’s managed two in five, which is actually better than Alexis who appears to have been on holiday for most of the 2017/18 campaign.
Most seasons, the Chilean is prolific and we are going to have to somehow replace that while the 28-year-old mysteriously finds his form again with our rivals, since the chances of him moving to Manchester City in January or at the end of the season on a free are pretty high.
Is Zaha the right man to come in for Alexis? We don’t even know if the interest is genuine yet…
