Fenerbahce are reportedly ready to ‘push hard’ for Mesut Ozil in January.

While Fenerbahce have previously been linked with Ozil, it was unclear whether they would prepared to cough up the playmaker’s wages.

Robin van Persie is said to earn £240k-per-week, so perhaps so.

However, according to the Sunday Express (via Daily Star) the Turkish club are really keen and willing to ‘push hard’ to sign Ozil in January.

The 28-year-old has under a year left on his current deal with Arsenal and since Fenerbahce reside outside the UK, he can discuss a potential move with them in January. Obviously, if the Gunners want to cash in on the German before the summer, they might choose to sell him then.

While Fenerbahce may seem like an odd move for Ozil, his parents are Turkish and he’s apparently said he supports the club in the past.

The other clubs linked are Manchester United, Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Barca are his ex-team’s bitter rivals; journo Duncan Castle claims that United aren’t actually interested in the midfielder and Inter Milan’s comments regarding wanting Ozil were mistranslated.

Therefore, this leaves Fenerbahce.

Or, as was recently speculated, Ozil’s people could just be using other clubs to drive up his deal with Arsenal.
