AC Milan are reportedly still keen to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, a player previously linked with Arsenal.

The 21-year-old was the target of a lot of interest around Europe while he was still at Real Betis. AC Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool were all thought to be looking at him, but they eventually lost out as he was signed by Real Madrid in the summer.

According to Sport via talkSPORT, though, this hasn’t deterred Milan from trying again in January. Ceballos made the switch to Madrid after having a highly impressive u21 European Championship with Spain.

The midfielder emerged from Betis’ academy during the 2013/14 season and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the club. So far, he’s made just six appearances for Madrid, and faces tough competition from Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro.

It’s that situation that Milan are hoping to exploit, as they feel they can lure the midfielder with the promise of more first team football. Given he only just joined Madrid, it seems very unlikely that he’ll be moving clubs again so soon in my opinion.

Arsenal could do with strengthening their midfield, but I feel they will almost certainly have to look elsewhere for targets.
