Manchester United are apparently favourites to sign Mesut Ozil next summer.

When Ozil was first linked with a move to United, which would see him reunite with former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, most wrote off the rumours as nonsense. We questioned whether the midfielder would genuinely want to play under the Portuguese coach again. However, the Red Devils have since become favourites to sign the playmaker next summer.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and therefore is able to discuss a move with a club outside of the UK in January. However, the Germany international won’t be able to talk about a transfer to a Premier League club until his deal expires.

While most of us thought that Ozil would remain in London since that’s what he said he wanted to do, Arsene Wenger recently revealed that negotiations over a new deal have stalled. Although the Frenchman insisted this was because the new season had started, the rumours linking him with a move away are growing daily.

United are favourites to sign the midfielder but Barcelona are also being heavily linked with a move him, as have have his former team, Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Turkish club Fenerbahce are said to be interested. However, the latter may have trouble affording Ozil’s wages, which are allegedly pretty big.
