Arsenal legend Lauren doesn’t believe that the Gunners have any chance of winning the title at the moment.

Lauren recently had some less pretty valid comments regarding his former team.

The ex-defender reckons that Arsene Wenger’s current side don’t have enough fighters on the pitch and leaders in the dressing room.

“The first [reason] is that he doesn’t have those seven or eight players who are fighting for him,” Lauren told the Daily Mirror.

“The second factor is that there are so many teams looking to win the league – five or six of them.

“And the third factor is that – with all my respect – we miss something in the dressing room. We miss something that drives teams to win and challenge for the Premier League – some leadership from inside.”

Lauren won the Premier League twice with Arsenal, including our famous Invincible season, and the FA Cup three times before he signed for Portsmouth in 2006. So, he knows all about what it takes not just to win, but to do it consistently.

The 40-year-old made 159 league appearances for the Gunners during his six years in north London.

The former Cameroon international played under Wenger when the Frenchman was at his peak with Arsenal, so it must be strange to watch a team that’s so far removed from the one he knew. Lauren played in the same team as Patrick Vieira after all – the captainiest captain to ever captain.

However, Lauren’s not exactly saying anything we didn’t already know and that hasn’t been said before. Apart from maybe our Lord and Saviour Nacho Monreal, there are very few players who actually look as if he they genuinely care in the team right now. Although they’ve improved since that embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, there’s still plenty of room for improvement, and Lauren can see that.
