Three main stories dominate the papers today – Alexis returning to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger saying football has gone mad, and the Dutch, thanks to goals from two Arsenal players, knocking out England in the semi-final of the Euros.

Alexis was spotted kissing his badge during the open training session at Member’s Day prompting people to finally start listening to Arsene Wenger when he says that the Chilean is going nowhere during this window.

Wenger’s comments about Neymar’s obscene move to PSG do nothing but tell the truth, yet somehow they have been granted major importance by large parts of the MSM. The comments are reproduced across the papers at the expense of other stories, like Wenger admitting Lucas will be sold only one year after being signed for £20m.

Finally, England’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Dutch in the Women’s Euros semi-final on Thursday night received an encouraging number of column inches across the MSM, with many devoting double-page spreads and large sections of their backpage to the game (some even put it on their front page as well).

Goals from Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema and Danielle van de Donk (DVD to her friends) helped seal the win for the Dutch who were the better team on the night. England’s lack of a plan B was sorely exposed, and although 3-0 was a harsh scoreline, the result cannot be questioned and Arsenal’s Jodie Taylor and Jordan Nobbs were left bitterly disappointed.
