Paris Saint-Germain duo, Neymar and Dani Alves, have reportedly been in contact with Alexis Sanchez over a move to the Ligue 1 giants.

Despite spending a record-breaking £198m on Neymar just two weeks ago, it seems that PSG aren’t finished in the transfer window, if reports in Spain are anything to go by.

In fact, according to Don Balon, Neymar himself has been trying to persuade his former Barcelona teammate, Alexis, to join him in France’s capital, as has Dani Alves.

If true, surely this counts as tapping up?

This comes after PSG president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, insisted that this hasn’t and won’t happen. Although he could have just been speaking for himself…

“If I want Alexis Sanchez I’m going to talk to Arsene Wenger,” Al-Khelaifi said, reported the Daily Star earlier in August.

“We have respect for Arsenal [and have] excellent relations.”

The Chilean was in Paris at the weekend but whether he was there for business or pleasure remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are still in the mix, although Pep Guardiola has allegedly encouraged Alexis not to make a big song and dance about it.

City are reportedly willing to increase their offer of £50m to £60m and even Arsene Wenger has admitted that if the Gunners’ board wants to allow the forward to move on, even to a direct rival, he’ll have to go along with it.

“We have not progressed on that front,” the boss said.

“I want Sanchez to stay, I want Sanchez to extend his contract. But as well you have to be capable to afford to pay him.”

The 28-year-old has under a year left on his current deal and, by the looks of things, he clearly wants to go. While Wenger insists that he wants him to stay put, and he probably does, Arsenal will have to weigh up the financial risk.

At this point, I think most Gooners would rather Alexis just leave so we can move on.
