The Chile FA’s president, Arturo Salah, denies claims that Alexis Sanchez asked to leave camp in order to take care of ‘other commitments’.

Contrary to claims from Tele13 on Tuesday, the Chile FA’s president, Salah, has denied that Alexis left Chile’s training camp to carry out ‘other commitments’.

“Juan Antonio Pizzi confirmed to me that it is totally false that Alexis Sánchez asked permission to leave,” Salah said when asked by reporters.

The 28-year-old reportedly asked to leave on Tuesday as the Chile team trained for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Bolivia. However, this allegedly isn’t true.

The forward is currently being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City before the transfer deadline closes on Thursday night. Pep Guardiola is reportedly desperate to sign him.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Arsenal will only consider a huge cash offer, thought to be in the region of £70m, plus a player. Otherwise, as Arsene Wenger’s said again and again, Alexis will be staying at Arsenal this season.

The Chile international has under a year left on his current deal and clearly wants to leave.

Alexis played his first match of the season for Arsenal against Liverpool on Sunday. The Gunners got hammered 4-0 and the forward was taken off after an hour. He’s still not fully fit and seems dead-set on leaving. However, we’ll have to see if City return if a club record offer.
