Bayern Munich have confirmed AC Milan’s interest in Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches.

  • Milan want to take Sanches on loan
  • Sanches struggled for first team football at Bayern
  • Arsenal tried to sign Sanches before he joined Bayern

The Portuguese midfielder joined Bayern in a big money move from Benfica last summer, but has struggled to establish himself in the Bayern team. Sanches could now leave Bayern on loan in order to get more first team opportunities, with AC Milan showing an interest.

According to Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rumminigge, Milan are, so far, the only club to show an interest in Sanches. “I can confirm that Milan have shown interest in Renato Sanches. But we did not get any further,” reports Football365.

“They reported midweek. And if you borrow a player from Bayern, that also has economic effects. At least I have the impression that AC Milan are not ready to meet our demands. It was not just about lending. At €48million (£42m) I would not be dissatisfied.”

Arsenal and Manchester United tried to sign the teenager from Benfica before he joined Bayern Munich. The Gunners reportedly sent Luis Boa Morte to scout Sanches throughout his breakthrough season at Benfica.

If Arsene Wenger still has an interest in the player, it seems now would be the time to attempt to sign him.
