Arsenal have reportedly received a £24.5m (€28m) offer from Marseille for Olivier Giroud.

The French side delivered the offer to Arsenal on Friday according to an exclusive in Marseille Mercato. They claim the Ligue 1 side backed up their talk of Giroud being a priority for them this summer with the offer.

Giroud has said previously that he wanted to stay at Arsenal and felt that Alexandre Lacazette would not represent a threat to his place.

Arsene Wenger has said that he wants Giroud to stay so all signs would point to him remaining, however reality might deliver a quite different message to Giroud.

Heading into a World Cup year the last thing he will want to do is languish on the bench for most of the season, only seeing action as he spearheads a youthful side in the Europa League.

That being said, given Karim Benzema’s relationship with France coach, Didier Deschamps, perhaps Giroud knows he doesn’t have to do much to be on the plane to Russia next summer anyway…
