Olivier Giroud is more likely to stay at Arsenal if they sign Alexandre Lacazette according to a recent report.

  • Giroud would be confident of competing with Lacazette
  • He doesn’t want to compete with someone like Mbappe, who would have star status
  • Giroud could leave for more first team opportunities ahead of World Cup

The Frenchman may be looking to leave Arsenal this summer if his first team opportunities are limited again next season.

However, according to reports in the Evening Standard, Giroud could stay and compete for a first team place should Arsenal sign Alexandre Lacazette.

Giroud is believed to feel confident he could beat out competition from Lacazette, as he is currently doing for the France national team.

This wouldn’t be the case if Arsenal sign Kylian Mbappe, as a £100m signing would have undoubted star status in the team and play every game.

Giroud had been linked with a move to West Ham in recent days. The Standard pours doubt on that as they said Giroud would want Champions League football should he leave even though he won’t have it if he stays.

The report says he would prefer to stay at Arsenal, but the club are looking into the possibility of using him as a make-weight in a deal for either Lacazette or Mbappe.
