On 14 June, Wenger reportedly had a three-hour ‘meeting’ with the Mbappes in a bid to convince 18-year-old Kylian that signing for Arsenal would be a great career move.
The manager allegedly compared the striker to his hero, Thierry Henry, and pointed out how he helped the Frenchman become one of the best footballers in the world.
The outlet which broke the news, France Football [via GFFN], refers to this talk as a ‘meeting’ so there’s probably a fair amount of people wondering if this is even allowed or whether this counts as ‘tapping up’… because it sounds like it does.
The teenager also apparently had a similar ‘meeting’ with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez recently.
Kylian’s mother, Fayza Lamari, is the main person pushing her son to sign for Los Blancos.
While Arsenal are said to be very interested in the Monaco striker, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are too, which means the Gunners are aware that they may not be able to compete with other clubs financially.
Monaco are asking for £130m.
