It’s all kicking off: RB Leipzig’s managing director, Oliver Mintzlaf, is livid with Emil Forsberg’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, for trying to force a move away from the Bundesliga club.

Mintzlaf has not only ruled out Leipzig selling Forsberg this summer but blasted the winger’s agent for trying to push a move.

Speaking recently, the German side’s managing director pointed out that the 25-year-old, who tallied up an impressive 22 assists last season, has another five years left on his deal with Leipzig.

“If the agent has forgotten how long Emil has a contract with us, then we will be able to send him a copy of this,” he said.

To which Forsberg’s agent replied, “I’ve never seen such an arrogant kind of experience, I know how long Emil has a contract in Leipzig. It’s clear that Emil wants to take the next step in his career.”

Cetinkaya has been just as dramatic by claiming that Leipzig are ‘destroying Forsberg’s dreams’ by not allowing him to move on.

“I and Emil have always accepted the club and the contracts with them. When Emil went there, the ambition was to take the team to the Bundesliga and then the Champions League. He has been involved with them all the way and broke records in their shirt,” Cetinkaya told Aftonbladet.

“Both me and Emil have spoken to the club about his ambition, his future and his dreams. They didn’t buy him for €15m, but for €3m and he signed a new contract and paid them back ten times. They will have to live with the fact that they are destroying his dreams.”

Forsberg has been linked with not only Arsenal but Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. However, it’s unclear how genuine the rumours are.

The Sweden international admitted recently that he leaves negotiations to his agent.
