Talks between Onyekuru and Arsenal have reportedly been progressing well with the Gunners ready to pay the KAS Eupen striker’s £6.8m release clause.
However, according to an EXCLUSIVE on Score Nigeria, Newcastle have allegedly come in with a rival offer in which they aim to pay the 20-year-old £36k-per-week.
They’re also more likely to be able to offer the talented youngster regular playing time.
Whether this will be enough to tempt Onyekuru Tyneside is another issue, as the player has already spoken highly of both Arsenal and his role model growing up, Thierry Henry.
Onyekuru scored 24 goals in 41 appearances for Belgian club Eupen last season and has three years left on his current deal.
West Ham and Anderlecht have both also been linked with the striker.
