Newly-promoted duo Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United join West Ham United in the race to sign for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at AFC Bournemouth but saw his season cut short after suffering a hairline fracture in April.

And with 12 months left on his current deal at Arsenal, he’s being tipped to leave the club. According to reports, bookmakers have slashed the odds on Rafael Benitez bringing the England international to Newcastle or Huddersfield Town. West Ham are also in the running.

Wilshere made 27 Premier League appearances for the Cherries last season. His chances at Arsenal in 2017/18 could be limited after Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey look set to partner each other in deep-lying roles, while Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil operate behind the lone striker.

As for the Newcastle links, the possibility of a midfield partnership alongside compatriot Jonjo Shelvey is an intriguing one, as Shelvey himself won a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year last season and will be keen to push on his progression in England’s top tier next term.

Arsenal could be tempted to sell him this summer if the reported contract negotiations don’t go smoothly. The Gunners won’t want to lose another player for nothing if they stand a chance of cashing in early enough.
