Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United may renew interest in Franck Kessie after the midfielder’s move to AC Milan was called off due to issues over his real age.

  • Medical revealed Kessie could be older than documents say
  • His move to Milan has been postponed while further tests are conducted
  • Arsenal were linked with the player last season

According to the Daily Star, Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie had been set to join AC Milan from Atalanta this summer but his medical cast doubts about his real age.

Officially, Kessie was born on in December 1996, but tests showed that he could be older than his date of birth suggests.

While Milan have yet to make an official statement on the matter, the transfer has been postponed while they conduct further investigations.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were linked with Kessie last season after the player’s stellar campaign with Atalanta. Should his move to Milan collapse, it could give the Premier League trio an opportunity to follow through on their interest.

Issues surrounding the ages of African players have been common in football. There was controversy in the recent U17 Cup of African Nations where five Ivory Coast players were older than their birth certificates said.

Arsenal could capitalise on Kessie’s non-deal to Milan if the transfer is cancelled.
