Despite heavy interest from Real Madrid, the club Mbappe is said to have wanted to play for since he was 14, Wenger has allegedly been on the phone to the striker to discuss what direction his career should take.
According to L’Equipe, Mbappe’s main concern over moving the La Liga is a lack of playing time. Given the calibre of attacking player at Real, he’s worried that he’ll spend most of the season ahead of the World Cup in Russia sat on the bench.
With this in mind, Zinedine Zidane and Real president Florentino Pérez have apparently had a ‘secret conversation’ with Mbappe to reassure him that they’re willing to sell either Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, or Karim Benzema in order to give him playing time.
The wonderkid’s camp are concerned about Arsenal’s lack of Champions League football, which the teenager desperately wants.
Although L’Equipe claim that Wenger also spoke to Mbappe directly, very little seems to be known regarding the specifics of this conversation.
Arsenal are allegedly willing to bid up to £122m for the goalscorer and while the press seem convinced that his move to Los Blancos is as good as done, L’Equipe still claim that no agreement has been met. Yet.
Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool are also all said to still be keen.
