Arsenal are reportedly set to open talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this week over a new deal.

The Ox, who signed from Southampton for £12m in 2011, currently has just one year left on his Arsenal deal and Arsene Wenger is apparently keen to get him tied down to a new one as soon as possible.

In fact, according to ESPN, talks are set to begin next week.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old as Jurgen Klopp is supposedly a long-time fan. However, other than this, both the player and Wenger have always seemed pretty clear on the fact that the England international will be staying in north London.

The Ox had a fantastic 2016/17 season, especially after Wenger switched up his formation to 3-4-3, which opened up a new role as wing-back where the star excelled.

Although the Ox has spoken about his preference for playing in a more central role, where he really does shine, he’s just happy to be getting some minutes under his belt while staying fit.
