German football expert, Raphael Honigstein, believes that Arsenal’s reported new signing, Sead Kolasinac, is one of the Bundesliga’s best left-backs.

Kolasinac’s move to Arsenal is set to be announced soon with his Schalke contract running at the end of this month and Honigstein believes the 23-year-old could be brilliant for the Gunners.

“He is one of the better left-backs in the Bundesliga,” the journalist told The Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast.

“He is very strong, very physical and very good in the air. He is one of those left-backs who can play as a centre-half. Not necessarily a creative centre-half.”

Kolasinac is thought to be 31-year-old Nacho Monreal’s successor, with reports linking the Spaniard with a move to Athletic Bilbao. However, a deal for the Bosnia international is yet to be announced, despite a medical already apparently taking place and deal agreed.

As Honigstein says, Kolasinac is known for his ‘physical’ playing style, which is a big signing for a team like Arsenal who aren’t exactly known for their strength or size.

Having another no-nonsense player alongside Granit Xhaka will be interesting…
