Arsenal are preparing to make a move for Bordeaux striker, Gaetan Laborde.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim that Arsenal have been ‘seduced’ by the profile of the player who is currently under contract until 2020.

Alexandre Lacazette is believed to be Arsenal’s main attacking target, with a deal close to completion if reports are to be believed.

However should that deal break down, the Frenchman is likely to target a move to La Liga side Atlético Madrid despite their transfer ban. Arsenal, however, are not only looking for a main striker, but a backup they can ignore all season to take the place of Lucas Perez who wants to leave.

Laborde, who turned 23 in May, scored 13 goals and created five assists across all competitions for Bordeaux last season.

Liverpool have also been recently linked with a swoop for the Frenchman, though it’d be a surprise to see him signed as an important first-team player by either club after just one full Ligue 1 campaign under his belt.

In recent seasons, Wenger has been heavily criticised for signing inadequate attackers (or none at all) who can contribute to a serious title challenge.

Olivier Giroud has performed well in the final third, despite criticism of his performances. At 30 though, it’s clear that he needs to be playing regularly if he wants to retain his starting berth for Didier Deschamps’ France side ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Giroud has already stressed the importance of playing more regularly next term but Laborde, who netted 13 goals last season, is being readied as a possible back-up option. Reportedly.
