Supporters in Singapore have an opportunity to watch some Arsenal and Liverpool legends in action on November 11, as they’re set to go head-to-head at the National Stadium.
Liverpool Masters have won on their last two trips to Singapore, beating the hosts and Manchester United Masters in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Former centre-back Mikael Silvestre (who is calling him an Arsenal ‘legend’?), who gave his thoughts on Arsène Wenger’s style and approach earlier this week, has said he’s keen to meet fans in Singapore whilst promising it’ll be a fantastic experience on a personal level.
“Arsenal’s heritage and history are what make the club special,” he said.
“It will be a great occasion for us to get together again and to share the moment. The stadium is fantastic and it’s also nice to play with different generations.
“It’s also all about meeting the fans, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
Steve Black, chief executive officer of Masters Football Asia, explained why the upcoming encounter was the perfect draw for the continent.
“We are delighted to stage another Masters game involving two of the biggest names in English football,” Black said.
“The support for both teams is tremendous in Singapore and given where the teams finished in the League this season, we thought it would be appropriate for the former players of both teams to take to the pitch here in Singapore and ‘settle old scores,” he stated.
Although it’s still subject to availability, the Arsenal players that are expected to feature include Robert Píres, Nigel Winterburn, Gilberto Silva, Ray Parlour and the aforementioned Mikael Silvestre.
Liverpool Masters are expected to feature David James, Steve McManaman, John Arne Riise, and Luis Garcia.
Tickets for the fixture are already on sale now, and range from $20 to $200 for VIP packages.
