Mauro Icardi has once again committed his future to Inter Milan despite the Serie A club’s poor season.

Last summer, Icardi and his agent, wife Wanda Nara, had a whole lot of fun pretending that the striker was on his way to Arsenal or Chelsea before the 24-year-old signed a contract extension with Inter.

It turns out, the Argentina international was just looking for a better deal in Italy and using Arsenal’s desperation to seal it.

Icardi’s new contract takes him up until 2021 with Inter and, despite apparently being linked with Arsenal and Chelsea (again), he claims that he wants to bring Champions League football back to the team he apparently ‘loves’.

“The Champions League? Yes, I’ll play in it with these colours,” Icardi said on Instagram recently.

“Because this is the team which made me grow, because it’s the team which took me to where I’ve always dreamed of, because it’s the team which has given me the honour and responsibility of being captain, something I carry with pride ALWAYS.

“In beautiful moments but above all in bad moments, for that and for other reasons but above all because this is the team that I LOVE!”

Inter are currently eighth in the Serie A table and therefore likely to miss out on any form of European football next season.
