Benfica B winger, Diogo Gonçalves, has admitted that while the Premier League is one of the best in the world, he’s not thinking about a move at the moment.

  • Gonçalves has scored 10 and assisted 10 over 40 appearances this season
  • Portuguese youngster ‘rejected’ Gunners last summer
  • Arsenal said to still be scouting 20-year-old
  • Winger refers to Premiership as ‘one of the best in the world’

Last summer, Arsenal were reportedly after 20-year-old Gonçalves after he impressed for Benfica’s youth team. However, when the Gunners approached him, the Portugal youth international turned down the chance to move to north London.

When asked about Arsenal’s apparent interest again recently, Gonçalves claimed that he’s not thinking about that kind of move just yet.

“The English league is very competitive, one of the best in the world, but I don’t think of it for now. The near future only goes through the national team,” he said.

Gonçalves has been impressing again this term, with Arsene Wenger allegedly even sending scouts to watch him play.

He’s made 40 appearances over all competitions, including the UEFA Youth League, scoring 10 goals and assisting the same amount.

Gonçalves’ contract with Benfica B doesn’t run out until 2021.
