According to O Jogo, Arsenal are scouting Benfica B player, Diogo Gonçalves.

Apparently, we’ve been interested in the forward for a long time and our scouts were at Benfica B’s 1-1 draw against Gil Vicente, where the 19-year-old created several chances.

Arsene Wenger reportedly admires the Portuguese player’s qualities and is obviously keen if we are indeed watching him.

The Benfica B team is Gonçalves’ first senior club. However, as a youngster, he played for Almodôvar and Ferreiras. He’s also been playing for the Portugal national team since he was at an u15-level.

Last season, he scored seven goals and made three assists in six appearances in the UEFA Youth League. Wow.

Wenger’s always on the look-out for new youth talent and Arsenal usually push their scouts out all over the place, so this could be entirely possible. As ever, we’ll have to see how this one develops.
