According to a recent article by SportWitness, Arsenal as well as Premier League rivals Manchester United were watching as Porto beat Paços Ferreira 4-1 in Liga NOS on Sunday.
Both Danilo Pereira and André Silva have been linked with a lucrative move to the Emirates previously so it’s no surprise to know that A Bola claimed it’s likely that scouts were watching them once more as they continue to track their progress.
Neither player started on the evening, but both featured off the substitutes’ bench with just under 30 minutes left remaining.
Danilo replaced Yacine Brahimi and had a free role in midfield, having returned from a minor knee injury which sidelined him for the two previous matchdays. Silva meanwhile managed to score his first goal since one on international duty with Portugal against Hungary in late March from the penalty spot, and impressed with an energetic attacking display.
The Portuguese media outlet described Danilo as having the “will to dispute every challenge as if it was his last“, and they seem to they feel a move away from Porto is inevitable at some stage in future.
Both players signed contract extensions this season and as a result, Porto would be reluctant to let either leave for a significantly lower figure than their respective release clauses.
Combined, it’s believed to be in the region of €120m and Arsenal have never completed transfers in that value range before which doesn’t bode well in terms of the likelihood they will sign the duo.
Liverpool have also been linked with Danilo, whilst Spanish reports suggest Real Madrid are interested in Silva and super-agent Jorge Mendes has been offering the 21-year-old around to France’s top sides, reports suggest.
If Arsenal want these two, they will have to act quickly. Which is highly unlikely.
